Tax Freedom Day!

Today is Tax Freedom Day. The day we finally stop working just to pay the State our taxes [unless you include government borrowing - which adds another 12 days].
We have to work 155 days of the year just to pay the taxes that they levy on us. 40% of our national income goes straight in to the blackhole that is the government.
It never seems so large until it’s put that way, does it?
I just received my first full monthly pay slip. Until now, I had been paid weekly, but with the movement from a temp to a permanent employee, that all changed. And then I relaised just how much tax I was paying. It just never seemed so much when I got paid weekly.
Bastards taking so much of the money I earn!
Utter bastards.

I haven’t yet started paying taxes as I have just left school and am about to enter university, but I am planning on a bit of civil disobedience and refusing to pay them when I reach that stage. I don’t see any way that our government being a democracy, justifies it taking 40% of what we earn.
The problem is because its been doing it for the whole of everyone’s life time, everyone just assumes that’s how its always been and that’s how it has to be, but it wasn’t until the 2nd world war that taxes went from pretty much negligible to the huge sums we have now. And its not even as necessary as people think, so much is wasted in Labours schemes that are not needed. What we need is government retrenchment, the government should return to a administrative and protective role and stop demanding money in order to interfere in our lives.
