Most idiotic of all in this design, is incorporating printed details that could easily change from one time to the next. Okay, we’ve always had marital and Deed poll name changes; but for one’s ID card to be “wrong” as soon as one changes one’s benefits status (for example) is just plain daft.
These things are going to cost enough as it is. If every time one changes job, or leaves work, or (in the case of immigrants) class of Leave to Remain changes, a new card is needed…
I am assuming these would become compulsory in time, but hopefully that will not be able to be set in stone before the change of government at the next General Election.
