Labour Can’t Learn From Obama

barack-obama-gordon-brownThe Labour Party, according to minister David Lammy, should learn from Barack Obama to “rediscover, renew and refresh” itself.

Thing is, Labour can’t learn from Obama and do what he has done – because Obama’s slogan is “Change”. Labour is Britain’s Bush administration – mired in failure after years of government, having been too incompetent to achieve any of their manifesto commitments and keep the economy afloat.

Change is not something that a governing party can bring, at any point. McCain can not bring change to America, and neither Brown nor the rest of Labour can bring change to Britain. The only way in which Labour can elumlate Obama and bring change is by losing power.

Britain’s Obama is David Cameron and the Conservative Party, a fact which is patently obvious. They have already learned from Obama and will continue to do so.

Labour can’t bring change, but the Conservatives can, and will.

I’ve reviewed the Fabian Society pamphlet on what Labour can learn from Obama. http://blog.matthewcain.co.uk/the-change-we-need-revie/

I thought there were lots of good things in it and it’s a really important contribution but the conclusions were weak because they failed to compare properly the similarities and differences
