Lewis Hamilton: World Champion
It couldn’t have been any closer.
Massa led from the outset of the Brazilian Grand Prix , right up until the end. And as he crossed the line, he would have been world champion had the result stayed as it was.
On the last lap, Hamilton was passed by Vettel, moving him down to sixth – and he needed fifth to get the points to win. The tension was horrendous, so close to the end of the season and Hamilton had just lost his position and the points he needed to win.
But, luckily for him, three corners from the end Hamilton he managed to pass Glock, who hadn’t come in and switched to wets as it started to rain in the last few laps.
Ferrari had started to celebrate, believing that they had won. But then they realised Massa hadn’t. It must have been gutwrenching – especially for Massa himself. Massa did everything he could have done, but he was just unlucky.
However, the Brazilian crowd booed Hamilton. Disgusting.
Congratulations to Lewis on becoming the ninth British F1 champion, and the youngest ever. He deserved it. And couldn’t have done it in a more nail-biting way.

And well done to him, it was about as close as you could get.
