Miliband: Obama isn’t committed to openness

by Chris | 6 Feb 2009 | No Comments

david-milibandDavid Miliband told MPs today that:

the disclosure of the intelligence documents at issue by order of UK courts against the wishes of the US authorities would indeed cause real and significant damage to the national security and international relations of this country.

Which is in stark contrast to Obama’s statements on his first day in the office when he says that he wanted to start

a new era of openness

and make

transparency… [one of] the touchstones of this presidency.

So is Miliband saying that Obama was lying on his very first day in the job as leader of the free world?

I cannot contenance Mr. Obama’s support of David Miliband’s suppressing of the British Courts 7 paragraphs of the inhuman treatment of Mr. Mohammad. Is Mr. Obama’s administration to be business as usual? How do I follow this story.
