Gordon Brown says he’s sorry. Not.
Gordon Brown won’t say sorry for the mistakes he made over the economy whilst Chancellor and Prime Minister. As he has been specifically in charge of the economy for so long, he cannot escape the responsibility for the recession.
And so the Tories have created a nice little crib sheet for him to copy down his apology from.
Sam Coates of the Times sees tis as a “waste of Tory donors’ money” because it is:
Unfunny. Cheap. Wont (sic) change a single vote, I’d imagine. And reeks of Tory-lite image in a way I thought the party was trying to avoid.
The thing is, I doubt it cost very much money at all – it could very easily have been knocked up in a lunchtime. It’s hardly a technological tour de force after all, but a relatively amusing little page. It is short and sweet, and gets the point across nice and simply, and at a glance.
What they could have done to make it more amusing is to have an option for you to add your own captions, rather than being restricted to just the three they offer… The biggest weakness is actually the email that you can have sent – it looks very tacky, all written in Times New Roman.
This is unlikely to change votes in itself, but it is an nice little way to continue the “Gordon won’t accept any responsibility for the recession” narrative.
