Our European colleagues know that Britain will not play ball for very many years - Cameron's government may well be the last government to talk to the EU at all. I am not convinced with this argument. What I cannot work out after reading your post is what you really think about the EU. I think you are comfortable with our membership? To call UKIP idiots does not help the debate move forward. Throwing abuse at people never does.
